The horrific train accident in Pakistan's Sindh province's Ghotki district on Monday morning, the railway system and the reasons for the increase in accidents are once again under discussion.
Some experts attribute the increase in accidents to the dilapidated condition of the railway tracks, while some analysts attribute the increase in accidents to the traditional and age-old railway system.
According to Ejaz Barero, there are more accidents on the railway line from Lodhran to Sukkur in Pakistan.
According to him, the repair work of railway tracks across the country is going on while the tracks are also being upgraded if required.
A former railway traffic controller, speaking on condition of anonymity, told VOA that complaints about the Sukkur track from Lodhran have been coming to light for a long time. According to him, instead of paying attention to this section, the government is waiting for the ML-1 project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
It may be recalled that under ML-1, there is a plan to lay a new track from Peshawar to Karachi which will be part of C-Pack.
Where was the negligence in the Ghotki accident?
Former senior traffic controller of Pakistan Railways says that the railway system is a multi-engineering (multi-engineering department). These include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Signal Engineering and other fields.
According to the former traffic controller, first it is important to find out which train derailed. There is negligence of civil engineering or negligence of mechanical engineering. Only then will those responsible for the accident be identified.
According to former Railways CEO Ijaz Brario, train travel in Pakistan is still safe, with tracks being inspected and maintained over time. According to him, along with the lines, the railway engine is also inspected before leaving for the journey. Sometimes this check is done on a daily basis.
